  • USA Cycling welcomes Slipstream and Highroad to Development Team
    USA Cycling announced today two new partners in its mission to develop future professional cyclists, welcoming long-time management companies Highroad Sports and Slipstream Sports as key supporters of the USA Cycling National Development Team. The newly-created partnership marks the next step in the evolution of USA Cycling's European-based programs and represents a substantial investment by the American professional cycling industry to ensure the U.S. continues to produce future champions.
  • Junior National Team's Adam Leibovitz wins in Belgium
    Junior National Team member Adam Leibovitz won Friday's prologue of the Ster van Zuid Limburg stage race in Belgium, clocking a winning time of 6 minutes, 21 seconds over the five-kilometer course. One of 34 Americans participating in USA Cycling's national team program in Europe this month, Leibovitz led a U.S. charge that left five riders in the top 20 of a 186-rider field. Leibovitz will wear the yellow leader's jersey in stage 1 on Saturday, a 119-kilometer race from Borlo to Alt-Hoeselt.
  • Registration now open for 2009 UCI BMX World Championships
    Registration is now available via the USA Cycling website for the 2009 UCI BMX World Championships and Challenge slated for July 20-26 in Adelaide, Australia. All qualified riders will need a valid USA Cycling International BMX license in order to register for the event. A complete list of qualified riders and more details on how to register are available on the USA Cycling BMX World Championship information page on the BMX homepage. Registration for all amateur class riders closes May 1 and on July 3 for all championship class athletes.
  • USA Cycling's Miller named Director of Athletics
    After being appointed to the position on an interim basis last February, Jim Miller was named USA Cycling's Director of Athletics effective Monday, April 6. Miller, 38, began his tenure at USA Cycling in 2002 and has since served USA Cycling in a variety of capacities. As director of athletics, Miller will oversee athletic programs for all major disciplines of competitive cycling with the ultimate goal being the success of American riders at the international level, as well as the continued development and support of future talent.
  • Free webinar surrounding USA Cycling MTB and CX national programs
    USA Cycling is offering a free webinar covering national program opportunities for mountain bike and cyclo-cross athletes. Set for April 13 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. MDT, the presentation will provide an overview on USA Cyclingandrsquo;s national programs and information on how athletes are identified, how to enter USA Cyclingandrsquo;s Development Pathway and the new European race program. Dr. Kristin Dieffenbach, Ph.D. will also be presenting a series of webinars in April, including Training on Limited Time coming up on April 9.
  • National Development Team's Barton and Phinney top 10 at Triptyque
    Behind the top-ten overall performances of Chris Barton and Taylor Phinney, the USA Cycling National Development Team scored a fifth-place overall ranking at the Triptyque des Monts et Chateaux race in Belgium. The squad, made up of a compilation of U23 athletes from various U.S.-based squads, helped Barton to a fifth-place overall finish following his third-place result in the opening stage. After a sixth-place finish in the eventandrsquo;s stage two individual time trial, Phinney pulled in at ninth-place overall.
  • USA Cycling sends 34 athletes to Europe for April racing campaign
    USA Cycling announced today its National Team rosters and race schedules for the month of April as its U23, Junior, and Womenandrsquo;s National Team squads will contest a total of 24 races throughout western Europe this month. Beginning with this weekendandrsquo;s Triptyque des Monts et Chateaux in Belgium, USA Cycling will host 14 U23 athletes, 6 juniors and 14 women throughout the month of April, providing them with valuable exposure to European racing andndash; a primary factor in the successful development of future world-class cyclists.
  • Barton opens National Team's Belgian campaign with third place
    Racing with the USA Cycling National Development Team, Chris Barton placed third Friday in the opening stage of the Triptyque des Monts et Chateaux race in Belgium. Barton, one of 14 U23 athletes racing with the National Development Team throughout Europe this month, sprinted to a third-place finish amidst a 12-man lead group in the 170-kilometer stage from Vieux-Conde, France to Quevecamps. Racing alongside Barton are teammates Taylor Phinney, Kirk Carlsen, Austin Carroll, Taylor Shelden, Cole House and Peter Salon.

  • USA Cycling National Racing Calendar Standings: March 30
    After securing the overall lead following the stage two circuit, Jeff Louder held off Bissell's Tom Zirbel to secure the overall victory at the Redlands Bicycle Classic by just five seconds. Ina-Yoko Teutenberg used the race's bonus sprints to gain the last second needed to edge out Nanduuml;rnberger-Shoair's Amber Neben by one second and claim the overall victory. The next event on the 2009 NRC will be the Dana Point Grand Prix of Cycling. The 1.5-rated event will take place on April 26 in Dana Point, Calif.
